Over the last year we have seen an increased popularity with our rose gold gifts. With the customer demand stabilised should we be making room for the next big trend or is there still longevity in this market for further product expansion?
Since its debut in 2012, industry professionals have questioned over the last four years how long this trend was planning to last. Many were predicting just three years however here we are in 2018 and it is still a very popular choice, with items such as mobile phones, headphones, jewellery, cars, pushchairs and so forth.
One of these industry professionals, Pandora’s Managing Director, has said that their rose gold range continues to be a best seller on the high street and very interestingly sales are higher in the UK than any other market. In fact our best seller is the rose gold compact mirror, which is very popular in the wedding and special occasion sector.
In addition to this, British cake design firm Poppy Pickering, said that it takes a while for trends to make it to the wedding industry, so rose gold has only become popular since late 2017. This suggests that different products within the rose gold sector still have many more months to go.
It was said by the BBC that the success of this trend was attributable to social media, who published Rose gold: The fashion trend that just won't go away - 18 July 2018, stating that many influencers found this colour easy to photograph and match up with other similar accessories. Penny Goldstone of Marie Claire magazine also stated that it was a “pop culture phenomenon, it has been around since 2015 but it’s still massively popular”.
Therefore there is little reason for us to be leaping onto the next trend when this is clearly still what the consumer wants and at the end of the day that is what it is all about. Over the last 10 months we have increased our product range to suit this and also align other product lines to bring you plenty of choice and variety across the company.
