It is important to clean your hip flask before the first use. This is because flasks may be dirty from transit, or otherwise have a somewhat peculiar taste from the manufacturing process. Whilst there are several methods to keeping your flask clean, here is what we recommend, no matter if the flask is fresh out of the box or has been by your side for months.

Firstly, you should fill the hip flask with warm, soapy water. We recommend only a few drops of washing up liquid for this, to prevent any excess residue being left over. If you have our wood wrapped hip flasks, you may wish to be careful with getting too much water on the exterior of the flask. We would advise being especially careful if you have a wood or vinyl wrapped flask that has been engraved, as water may weaken the glue used.

The Basic Method

Once your hip flask has been filled with soapy water, close the lid, and shake for a few moments. Pour out the water, and rinse thoroughly with fresh, warm water. Once your flask has been thoroughly rinsed, it should be perfectly clean and ready to go.
 
What About Strong Flavours?

If your flask has stored a particularly potent brew, you may wish to clean it with equal parts vinegar/lemon-juice and hot water. Again, be sure to shake well, and leave the mixture for a few minutes before rinsing the flask. This method is a great way to dispel any strong flavours left over from the previous drink.
